The story behind the Christmas market
The Christmas market had its beginnings in our old horse stable, where there were cobblestones and only 25 exhibitors. Now the old horse stable has been converted into the mansion, which now houses rooms, but the market has also long since outgrown the wing. Today, all our banquet and conference rooms, tents and living rooms on the estate are in use to accommodate the 10,000 visitors who make their way past West Zealand’s most authentic Christmas market over a weekend.
A family business
Behind our Christmas market is the 8th generation estate owner, Birgitte Dinesen, who has put her heart and soul into creating a cozy weekend where children and adults can get into the Christmas spirit, eat their fill of delicacies from our own kitchens and walk along the 100 stands and get inspired for Christmas shopping.
But it’s not just Birgitte who gets involved in the Christmas market, it’s the whole family that shows up and helps make the most of the cozy days. All family members can be found around the estate, either pouring mulled wine and apple slices, helping with parking, or taking part in some of the activities.
When we hold the Christmas market at Kragerup, both the Dinesen family and all of the estate’s employees wear Santa hats and sweaters, so it’s always easy to find an employee and it adds to the Christmas spirit.
Christmas market with soul and warmth
At Kragerup Estate, we don’t skimp on fun and games. All of the estate’s events throughout the year offer plenty of entertainment and activities for the whole family to enjoy. This also applies to the Christmas market. At the Christmas market at Kragerup Manor, we are lucky enough to be visited by Santa and his wife, who during the market will tell Christmas stories and hand out Christmas treats to the children, and you can have your Christmas photo taken with Santa.
Since the beginning of the Christmas market at Kragerup Estate, the goal has been to create the most authentic and beautiful Christmas market in Denmark. The Dinesen family are the driving force behind the market, who want the experience to be personal and the quality to be high.

What to experience at the Christmas market
When our guests visit the Christmas market at Kragerup Manor, many choose to stay all day because the activities, food selection and atmosphere are top notch. The whole family can stroll along the stalls and see the beautiful crafts, handicrafts, jewelry, ceramics, delicacies and much more.
The Christmas market also offers special working workshops where our guests can see the process of craftsmanship and possibly try their hand at something themselves. During the day we also have two musical performances from Slagelse Nissegarden and Nuclear Devils Drumband.
For both the little and the big appetite, there’s plenty to indulge in. At the Christmas market at Kragerup Manor we have Christmas sweets and snacks, but we have also expanded the menu to include vegetarian Lebanese dishes, fish & chips and a sausage cart. Our homemade burgers are our big bestseller for young and old alike. All meals can be enjoyed in our large 700 sqm. grain barn, where it is possible to sit in the shelter and get warm.
Once you’ve visited all the stalls, you can continue your tour of the estate by exploring the beautiful main building, where we serve cake and hot drinks in the old living rooms.

In the 100 stalls at the Christmas market, you’ll find a wealth of different handicrafts, crafts, specialty goods, treats and much more, making it hard to leave the market without your hands full. You’ll find unique stalls and stalls at the market, all handpicked and selected especially for the Christmas market to preserve the authentic Christmas atmosphere. This is why over 80% of the products are homemade and produced in Denmark. You can find everything from pipes to vanilla sticks, jewelry, glass art, wood sculptures, Christmas decorations, paintings, clothes, knives and much more. The stalls are carefully selected each year to ensure that the quality is top-notch and guests can be sure to have the best experience.
