The main building

<p style="font-weight: 400">The painting from 1867 has a funny little story.</p> <p>The 8th generation of the Dinesen family at Kragerup Gods, Birgitte Dinesen, explains:</p> <p style="font-weight: 400"><em>“If you look closely at the picture, you can see that there is a man peeing. When there were no toilets like there are today, it was easier for the steward to walk around the building and do his business. The caretaker was often out while the artist was painting, so eventually he decided that he should be in the painting!”</em></p> <p style="font-weight: 400"><em>“Below the main building is a farm building with a thatched roof. Around 1892, all the farm buildings, which were very close to the main building, burned down. Today, all the farm buildings are on the other side of the road and have been converted into machines instead of horses. It’s fun to see how the farm buildings looked in 1867 compared to today.”</em></p>
