Sophie Magdalene Dinesen

<p style="font-weight: 400">Sophie Magdalene Dinesen (1779-1866) was born June 9, 1779 at Gyldenholm Manor and was the sister of the first Dinesen of Kragerup Gods Jens Kraft Dinesen (1768-1827).</p> <p style="font-weight: 400">It is said that Sophie was very beautiful when she was young. The portrait painter Hans Hansen, who met her when she was 17, fell in love and wrote about her: </p> <p style="font-weight: 400"><em>“She is as lovely and good as lovely and pious as good, and lovely as the lily in her splendor, and Venus Urania irradiates her lovely eyes and lets the rose of innocence bloom on her lovely cheeks.”</em></p> <p style="font-weight: 400">Sophie and her sisters had beautiful voices and sang both Danish and French songs.</p> <p style="font-weight: 400">At the age of 20, she married Lieutenant Jacob de Neergaard (1778-1833). Her husband died at the age of 56 and they had no children. Sophie then remarried her brother-in-law Colonel Peter Frederik Steinmann. </p> <p style="font-weight: 400">Sophie died in 1866 in Copenhagen and left no children.</p>
