Rungstedgaard

<p style="font-weight: 400">Rungstedgaard was built in 1917 as a private residence for Alice Laura Dinesen, who was related to Karen Blixen. Until 1965, the house was the setting for the family’s everyday life until it was taken over by the Insurance Academy, which today owns and runs Rungstedgaard. </p> <p style="font-weight: 400">Alice Laura la Cour was married on April 2, 1902 to Jens Kraft Dinesen, who owned Kragerup Gods. When Jens died at the age of only 52 on April 5, 1916 of pneumonia in Copenhagen, Kragerup Gods then passed to his brother Axel Wilhelm Dinesen. Jens and Alice never had any children, and therefore she could not inherit Kragerup. After Jens’ death in 1916, Alice inherited all the interiors of Kragerup, which she took with her to Rungsted. Here she built Rungstedgaard – a replica of Kragerup Gods. Kragerup Gods was therefore almost empty. Alice remarried in May 1922 to the painter Peter Hougaard. She died in Copenhagen on January 26, 1933. </p> <p style="font-weight: 400">Today, Rungstedgaard is used for conferences, parties and hotels.</p> <p>A painting by Alice Laura la Cour & Jens Kraft Dinesen hangs at Kragerup.</p>
