Kragerup coat of arms

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">In 1829, Sophie Jacobine de Neergaard married estate owner Birgitte Dinesen’s great-great grandfather Anders Didrich Dinesen, who owned Kragerup. Sophie wanted a coat of arms that would tell you which family you belonged to. </span></p> <p style="font-weight: 400">The coat of arms was a crossed shield, with the top field showing Anders Didrich’s grandparents’ affiliation. Anders’ grandfather, who bought the Gyldenholm manor, intended to replace the name Dinesen with the name Gyldenørn, and therefore chose a half-black eagle as his mark. </p> <p style="font-weight: 400">His grandmother Severine Dorthea was originally descended from the German Kraft family, whose mark was an erect bear. The coat of arms of the de Neergaard family, a wheat eagle in a gold count’s crown, would cover the lower part of the coat of arms. </p> <p style="font-weight: 400">Above the shield, a black knight’s helmet was placed. The helmet mark was three golden wheat ears to show that the family cultivated the land. </p> <p style="font-weight: 400">The original colors of the coat of arms are blue, red and gold. Today, we have reinterpreted the coat of arms in a new form where it is used in gold as the hotel logo. </p>
