Jens Kraft Jacob Sophus Dinesen

<p style="font-weight: 400">Jens Kraft Jacob Sophus Dinesen (1830-1910) was born on March 18, 1830 at Kragerup Gods. He took over the estate from his mother, Sophie Jacobine de Neergaard (1810-1857), on January 19, 1857. He was appointed Master of the Hunt in 1859 and Chamberlain on June 3, 1908. Jens had a large fortune and was said to be the richest man in the country. He was a modest and very frugal man throughout his life. He did not mix with the other estates or other public life, but instead spent his time on his own properties. He improved and renovated the farm buildings at Rugskov, restored Finderup Church and planted a lot of forest. </p> <p style="font-weight: 400">Jens lived his whole life at Kragerup Gods and was dominant towards the local population. In addition to Kragerup Gods, Jens also owned half of Rungstedgaard, Rungstedlund, Folehavegaard and the light property Sømandshvile, which he acquired when he married his cousin and brother Johan Ulrik Peter Vilhelm Dinesen’s widow Alvilde Dinesen (1841-1893). </p> <p style="font-weight: 400">The farm buildings that Sophie Jacobine de Neergaard had built in 1843 burned down in 1892. Jens therefore built new farm buildings, which was a significant improvement to the property. In 1890 Jens bought Gl. Wiffertsholm Estate and in 1904 Skjørringe Estate to his stepson Axel Wilhelm Dinesen (1865-1932). Jens lived with Axel at Skjørringe until his death in 1910. </p>
