Gl. Wiffertsholm Manor

<p style="font-weight: 400">Gl. Wiffertsholm Estate is a manor established by Axel Tønnesen Viffert in 1576. The estate is located in Skørring Municipality and the main building was built in 1914-1915 by architect Jens Ingwersen. The estate covers 871.5 hectares with Ny Wiffertsholm, Sønderholt, Baisgård, Christines Minde, Lindgården and Hovskoven. Axel Tønnesen Viffert had strong ties to Skåne, where he owned the manors of Skotterup, Mollerup and Axelvold. </p> <p style="font-weight: 400">During the First Scanian War, he was sheriff of Landskrona and became a knight of the Scanian Standard, but after the war he returned to Himmerland and established Viffertsholm in 1576. He had no sons, and his daughter Margrethe inherited the manor. In her second marriage to Jørgen Urne, her son Axel inherited her, but she left Viffertsholm to her sister Anne, married to Enevold Seefeld, whose family held the estate until 1740. </p> <p style="font-weight: 400">The next owner, shire bailiff Christen Thestrup, built a half-timbered main building, now demolished, while his son built the farmhouse. After 3 generations of Thestrup, the farm was taken over by the Svanholm family. During their ownership, the manor was divided into Old and New Wiffertsholm, which were reunited in the 1890s when chamberlain Jens Kraft Jacob Sophus Dinesen bought them. </p> <p style="font-weight: 400">The manor is privately owned and is not open to the public. However, it is possible to see the manor from the road. </p> <p>The 8th generation at Kragerup Gods, Birgitte Dinesen, spent much of her youth at Gl. Wiffertsholm. </p> <p style="font-weight: 400">The painting was painted in 1926 by Ellen Hofman-Bang.</p>
