Erik Sophus Dinesen

<p style="font-weight: 400">Erik Sophus Dinesen (1928-2005) was born on February 29, 1928 at Kragerup Gods. He was employed by landowner Henrik Brun in England, but crashed his motorcycle in 1951, which ended with a three-month stay in Norwich hospital. When he returned to Denmark, Erik was still bedridden with complications, with both hip and knee operations. He did not regain his ability to work until 1953. </p> <p style="font-weight: 400">On September 28, 1956, Erik married Marie-Louise Bohn (1935-) in Vedbæk Church. During her years at Kragerup Gods, Marie-Louise completely redesigned the garden and park in English style with large lawns and viewpoints to the main building and fields. Erik and Marie-Louise had a total of three children: Birgitte Ida Dinesen, Anne Viveka Dinesen and Charlotte Dinesen. </p> <p style="font-weight: 400">Erik was part of many different organizations where he was either a member, founding member or chairman. He was also appointed court hunter and chamberlain. He also ran a business on the family’s old property Gl. Wiffertsholm, but had to return home to Kragerup Gods after a major fire. Here he restored after the fire and invested in buildings and agriculture. The new buildings were used for pig production and new grain drying facilities. Kragerup’s main building was also extensively restored in 1966-1967. </p> <p style="font-weight: 400">In the 1980s, Erik Dinesen expanded, improved and beautified the large and beautiful family burial site at Ørslev Cemetery so that it is secured for future generations.</p> <p style="font-weight: 400">Erik died in 2005 at the age of 77.</p> <p style="font-weight: 400">In the garden room there is a painting of three small children, the middle one being Erik Dinesen with his two siblings.</p>
