Adolph Vilhelm Dinesen

<p style="font-weight: 400">Adolph Vilhelm Dinesen (1807-1876) was born on December 27, 1807 at Kragerup Gods.</p> <p style="font-weight: 400">At the age of 10, it was already decided that he would join the military. Adolph was appointed sergeant, second lieutenant, knight and first lieutenant. He volunteered in the French army in Africa and was awarded a Knight’s Cross. When he returned home, he bought Katholm Estate in 1839, where he stayed and managed it excellently. He only left the estate when he had to travel abroad. </p> <p style="font-weight: 400">He also participated in the battles of Bov and Isted and the Battery and was a very cunning and energetic leader. He made the enemy believe that reinforcements were coming, which resulted in them fleeing. That is why the battery remembers Dinesen for his cunning. In 1852, Adolph was dismissed from military service as a Major. In 1855, he bought the estate Stensmark, where he was appointed chamberlain in 1858. </p> <p style="font-weight: 400">Adolph married Dagmar Alvilde v. Haffner (1818-1874) in 1840, with whom he had eight children, two of whom joined the military, and their daughter Alvilde Dinesen. He is also Karen Blixen’s grandfather. </p> <p style="font-weight: 400">Adolph died on July 10, 1876 at Katholm Estate and is buried at Ålsø Cemetery.</p>
