Historic 4-star hotel and conference venue

A gem in scenic West Zealand

Feel the wings of history at Kragerup Manor

Kragerup Manor is a historical gem whose history stretches back several centuries. The oldest part of the main building, the vaulted cellar, was built in 1610, and since then the estate has been carefully restored. Today, Kragerup not only offers a historic setting, but also modern facilities that make it a first-class hotel and conference venue.

The transformation began in 1998 when Chambermaid Birgitte Dinesen transformed Kragerup from a farm to a hotel that today has 57 rooms and is a destination for meetings, events and nature experiences. With the 9th generation, Regitze Dinesen, at the helm, the transformation continues. Regitze took over in 2021 with a clear vision to continue Kragerup’s proud heritage. With the establishment of Kragerup Energy Park, which includes wind energy, own water extraction, straw boilers for heat production and plans for green hydrogen and solar cells, the green ambitions are constantly evolving.

Kragerup is not just a place where past and present meet – it’s a place where guests can enjoy historic surroundings, delicious food and try out activities in nature.

Regitze Dinesen, estate owner and 9th generation

Every day we are delighted to welcome guests to our historic main building. The oldest part of the house is the vaulted cellar from 1610, the middle house was rebuilt in 1801 and the side wings in 1838 and 1840. The many farm buildings have been restored and are now used as rooms, meeting and party rooms. The restoration started in 1998 and we are constantly finding new uses for our old buildings.

The history goes back a long way

Dive into the story of Kragerup Estate

The history of Kragerup Estate dates back to the early Middle Ages, where Kragerup was part of the village of Kragetorp. Throughout time, the The main building is inverted and there used to be a drawbridge over the moat.

The estate has been in the Dinesen family for 9 generations and over the years prominent members of the family have characterized Kragerup’s development as a workplace, family home and historical landmark.

Tour of the estate

The story of the white lady

In the main building we have a single portrait that has never been identified. However, it is believed that the woman is the ‘white lady’ who haunts the main building. She is apparently a friendly ghost. Along with the owls, which have always meant a lot to Kragerup, she protects the estate and the family. You can see the painting in the fine dining room in the main building.

Landowner Regitze Dinesen tells…

A lot has happened at Kragerup Estate in the last 25 years

“My mother, Birgitte Dinesen, is the 8th generation and has run Kragerup since 1986, the first 12 years of which were with her father until he retired in 1998. She then started the hotel with 6 rooms, which today has developed into a conference, hotel and event center with 57 rooms.”

“In 2009, she built Denmark’s first climbing park, Go High. Then came soccer golf, mountain biking, archery attack and many other activities. In 2015, she restored the old estate kitchen into what is now Restaurant Blixen. In 2019, she built Kragerup Go Bounce, Scandinavia’s first net park.”

“I’m the 9th generation and have been involved right from the start as a dishwasher, waiter, instructor, event manager and marketing manager. In 2021, I took over the title of estate owner and operations with a straight face and a lot of drive! My ambition is to continue to run Kragerup with pride after my mother.”

“Kragerup is a large company today, and as a graduate in business administration (psych), I’m very focused on operations, improvement opportunities and what creates the best value for guests. I believe it is still important to dream, be inspired, innovate and develop Kragerup’s green profile.”
